No. You can stop if you and your provider decide that's appropriate. It is best viewed as ongoing treatment for an ongoing condition — much like high blood pressure or an underactive thyroid — where the goal is how you feel and function, not a laboratory number. Some men have low testosterone driven by weight, sleep, stress or medications, and improving those may be enough that long-term treatment isn't necessary.

Your levels typically return toward what your body produces on its own, and for men with true hypogonadism, symptoms such as low energy, reduced libido, decreased muscle mass and poor recovery may gradually return. If preserving fertility matters to you, or you're unsure about long-term treatment, say so before you start — another option may be more appropriate.

Testosterone from outside the body signals the brain to send less of its own, so your natural production is suppressed while you are on treatment. How much, and how it recovers afterward, varies between men — which is part of what your provider weighs before recommending it.

Testosterone therapy supplies testosterone directly. Enclomiphene instead prompts your body to produce more of its own, which is why it is often considered when preserving fertility matters. It is taken orally, prescribed off-label for this purpose, and prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. Both cost the same, and your provider recommends the appropriate one after reviewing your laboratory results, symptoms, history and goals.

You can do either. Testosterone cypionate can be given subcutaneously — a short, fine needle just under the skin — or intramuscularly, and published research finds the two achieve comparable results, so it comes down to preference and what your provider recommends. Rather than one weekly injection, we divide the dose through the week, which keeps levels steadier between doses.

Men 18 and older who are physically located in Texas during their visits. Certain conditions — such as prostate or male breast cancer, uncontrolled heart failure, or untreated severe sleep apnea — mean TRT isn't safe, and we screen for them during intake. If you're actively trying to conceive, we'll discuss that carefully first, because TRT suppresses sperm production.
